Scalp Micropigmentation

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a tattooing technique in which minute, metobolically inert pigment granules are implanted below the epidermis with artistic strokes, mimicking the short hair appearance of a closely shaved scalp. It is an ancient Asian beautification practice that has gained popularity around the world.

Scalp micropigmentation may be used to enhance hair transplants or in some cases as an alternative to hair transplant surgery. Because it is used to create the look of thicker or denser hair, it is also an excellent way to blend scars, hypogonadism, partial alopecia, or to fill thinner areas of your hair.

Scalp micropigmentation is bio-absorbable by the immune system through Phagocytosis in approximately two years. If, for any reason, a patient decides to use other treatment techniques, the SMP performed earlier, does not create any constraints or deterrents for additional treatments. The pigment simply fades away but does not change color.

• Wash your hair with a non-abrasive shampoo for 7 days prior to treatment. After washing, the scalp should be well-hydrated which allows pigment to penetrate the skin.
• Avoid exposure to the sun.
• If you wear a hairpiece, it is recommended not to wear it 10-14 days prior to treatment.
• Do not use a razor on the scalp for 24 hours prior to your treatment.

• For the first 3 days, avoid: getting the scalp wet, perspiring, shampooing, jogging, workouts and/or cardio. 
• An electric shaver is permitted on day 4, however, make sure not to disturb any crusts which have not yet fallen off.
• A mild shampoo is permitted on day 4. 
• A razor may be used 10 days post treatment.
• Avoid sun bathing, saunas and tanning beds for 30 days post treatment.
